Organizing a medical mission to Honduras and more...

In early December John & I will travel to Honduras to further the development of existing and new projects to help the children of Honduras.

We will do research for our planned medical mission. My daughter is an ENT physician as well as a facial plastic surgeon. She and a colleague have agreed to travel to Honduras in order to perform surgeries for children who have cleft palates and suffer from other disfiguring conditions. We will identify the children in need, speak to local doctors and visit hospitals with operating facilities that we might use for our mission. We will keep you informed of our progress upon return to the US and hope to have lots of pictures to share.

We also plan to visit a trade school in Choloma which is badly in need of modernization of their facility and their equipment. We feel it is important to provide assistance to this sector because well trained students can gain meaningful employment so they can begin a life of their own in Honduras. This training helps keep them out of the reach of gangs and from joining the migration out of Honduras to the United States. Hondurans make up the largest group of migrants seeking entrance to the US.

Finally, we plan to visit the school in Choloma where we have already built a new classroom and have plans to add a third classroom as well as real bathrooms for the children and the teachers. Currently there is only one outhouse for the school.

Thanks for your interest in Angels for Honduras and your generous contributions.
